Geosciences Bridge Program
University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES)
Summer Research Intern
Princess Anne, Maryland
June 2015 - August 2015
The summer before beginning my undergraduate career at LSU (Summer 2015), I applied to and was accepted as 1 of 25 students to attend a rigorous, six-week collaborative summer program in the area of Geosciences, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This residential program was held on the campus of The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Princess Anne, Maryland. During this program, I was introduced to the areas of oceanic sciences, atmospheric sciences, and geographic information systems (GIS)/Remote Sensing techniques. This program also allowed me to experience and take on the responsibilities of a college student prior to beginning my own college career. Lectures, field trips and hands-on activities offered on and off-campus allowed me to strengthen my knowledge in mathematics, gain college credit and teach me life skills that would prepare me for life beyond high school.
